Police suspend officer member of the BNP

 Following the leak of the personal details of the 12,000 strong BNP members list, Merseyside police force have suspended a police officer as it investigates his alleged links to the party. Policemen are prohibited from joining the party.

The leaking of the list has opened a debate on whether those serving in public services and the teaching profession should also be banned from joining the far right racist party.
