The Guardian reports on the journalists, editors and media professionals who have been invited to address seminars organized to assist the deliberations of the Leveson Inquiry into the culture, practices and ethics of the press.

Among those invited is Richard Peppiatt, a former journalist for the Daily Star who quit earlier this year citing the paper’s anti-Muslim prejudice and its stoking of Islamophobia as reasons for leaving.

The Leveson Inquiry, headed by Lord Justice Leveson, was set up to address media malpractice following revelations concerning the phone hacking scandal. It will host seminars to cover:

  • The Competitive Pressures on the Press and the Impact on Journalism
  • The Rights and Responsibilities of the Press
  • Supporting a free press and high standards – approaches to regulation
