| | Martin Bright, the political editor of the New Statesman, left the magazine last week. Bright had over the years written a series of anti-Muslim articles in which he determinedly sought to marginalise mainstream Islamic groups and promote docile neo-con friendly Muslim outfits such as the Sufi Muslim Council (remember them?).
|
So, it was no surprise that in his final article for the New Statesman, ostensibly about Israel's criminal actions in Gaza, Bright once again lashed out at Islamic organisations and sought to shore up the disgraced figure of Ed Husain. Bright - the author you will recall of the notorious 'The Great Koran Con Trick' article in which he tried to disprove the Divine origins of the Islamic holy book - describes Ed Husain as 'one of the most effective opponents of Hamas sympathisers in Britain'. It will come as no surprise of course that as someone who does Israel's dirty work, Ed and his Quilliam Foundation are now suddenly in receipt of hundreds of thousands of pounds of taxpayers money. Also coming to the aid of Ed Husain last week was the anti-Muslim bigot and ardent Zionist, David Toube, from Harry's Place. What charming friends Ed has!
