The Sunday Times (14 Sept) reports that 'Islamic law has been officially adopted in Britain, with sharia courts given powers to rule on Muslim civil cases'. The paper claims that the courts' prior status, working on the basis of voluntary compliance, has been superseded with the rulings of five sharia courts in Britain enjoying the power of enforcement through the county courts or High Court. The Sun also features an online discussion on 'Sharia law: Will it fuel extremism in the UK' ![]() The Daily Mail (15 Sept) covers the story, 'Islamic sharia courts in Britain are now 'legally binding' and The Sun reports that 'Islamic law has been ushered into Britain by the back door', (Sharia Law get 'OK' in Britain', 15 Sept.
