Though EDL are adamant that they are not linked to the BNP, a video posted on Paul Ray’s Lionheart blog, calling for people to support the EDL demo in Manchester, echoes the sort of ‘Muslim takeover of Christian Britain’, that is standard fare for the BNP. Many of the images used on the BNP’s ‘Genocide: how Islamic colonisation destroys your heritage’ also appear on the ‘Defending our Christian heritage and birthright’ video. McKinstry’s use of the phrase ‘Islamification’ and the suggestion that it will accelerate with Turkey’s entry into the EU is barely distinguishable from the contents of a BNP leaflet that was issued prior to the European elections this year telling voters, 'The plan by the professional politicians to give Turkey’s 80 million low-wage Muslims the automatic right to enter Britain would mean...Even stronger pressure to Islamicise Britain, undermining our democracy and Christian traditions.'
