The Commission warned however that 'the advancement of education cannot be used to promote a political or predetermined point of view', adding that 'charity trustees are entitled to be members of political parties but they are not permitted to use a charity to achieve party political aims.' The Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation was said to have been run by Hizb ut-Tahrir members, though the Charity Commission said yesterday that it was satisfied that the headteacher at one of the schools run by the Foundation has not belonged to HT 'for a few years.' We now await further clarification on the incorporation and promotion of political ideologies in the curriculums of government-funded schools following our letter to Michael Gove.
