The Ummah Welfare Trust (UWT) has received a 30 day notice from Barclays Bank to close its bank account.

The Trust has been banking with Barclays since its inception in 2001, raising funds in the UK to carry out relief operations in over twenty countries across globe and providing support to over a million people.

The Trust has been banking with Barclays since its inception in 2001, raising funds in the UK to carry out relief operations in over twenty countries across globe and providing support to over a million people.

Barclays Bank has given no reason as to why the notice has been served. UWT Director of Operations Mohammed Ahmed said in a statement, “We are deeply concerned with Barclays Bank’s decision to close our accounts without any justification. This decision will not only affect the great work carried out by UWT but will affect millions of people who rely on UWT. This decision sets a dangerous precedent of disrupting British charities without any substance, especially as INTERPAL is in the process of having its bank accounts closed by Lloyds TSB.

Targeting charities in this way shows there is a concerted attempt to stop the good work in politically-sensitive regions by leading British Muslim charities.’

The charity donated £25,000 to University Hospital Leicester in Nov 2008 to buy an INVOS monitor for monitoring oxygen levels in the brain during and after surgery. The group raises £4 million each year in the UK and the money is used to help disaster victims and fund development work in poorer countries.

UWT is calling on all its supporters and friends to contact Barclays Bank and urge it to review its decision so that UWT can continue its humanitarian projects around the world without disruption.

Barclays and Lloyds were the one who supported the Apartheid in South Africa so it comes as little surprise that they are supporting the Zionist Fascist Apartheid regime of Israel.

They are jointly responsible for the genocide committed by Israel. If it is unclear how, then let me explain.

Whilst Israel kill the innocent children of Gaza, Barclays and Lloyds prevent those children from getting a decent funeral or their families from getting any aid by targeting Muslim Aid agencies.

Lloyds and Barclays the killer banks.

Well done Barclays. Charities, with their taxpayer support should not be so partisan. There is a load of cobblers on the UWT website - including that notorious picture we know is a fake.
