A number of Zionist groups have been actively lobbying for Musawi to be denied a visa to visit the UK where he is due to take part in a conference on Islam at the School of Oriental and African Studies on March 25. They accuse Musawi of having ties to the Lebanese Shi'i Islamic movement, Hizbullah. Musawi is not the first person to be targeted in this manner by pro-Israeli groups in the UK. Others include Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi and the Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan.
