Surrey mosque vandalised with swastika

Local paper, the Surrey Comet, reports on an act of vandalism on the site of a proposed mosque in what appears to be yet another suspected retaliatory attack following the murder of Drummer Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

An old building, Bank Chambers, which has been acquired by the Worcester Park Islamic Community Centre, was vandalised with a red swastika painted onto the front door. The offending symbol has been subsequently painted over and police are appealing for witnesses to the attack.

According to the paper, an earlier planning application submitted to Sutton Council was rejected on grounds of congestion to the area and a second, revised, application is now under consideration.
